The Gifted Grasshopper Giveaway

When I found out that I was preggers with Bubba, I immediately started collecting books. I collected classic fairy tales, Sandra Boynton board books, and collections from around the world that I hoped would unlock his imagination and also give him appreciation for other cultures and ideas. Nothing was more important to me than having a primo library set up for my little guy’s arrival. I wanted my love of literature to rub off on him and it completely has. He seems to always be carrying around a book and loves to read before naps and bedtime. The Gifted Grasshopper has taken this idea of ensuring a great library for a kid and expanded on it.

The Gifted Grasshopper, started by former 1st grade teachers Jen and Laura, is a gold mine of great gift ideas for your little (or future!) bookworm. They specialize in gift totes full of books and other special surprises for babies through 3rd graders. Their signature totes come in several sizes and include assorted books, a plush Griffen the grasshopper doll, a bookmark, Gifted Grasshopper glasses, and a bookmark that includes helpful hints on reading to your child. You even have the ability to choose the age group and theme of your tote! For instance, Bubba would probably really enjoy a preschool tote in the transportation theme. Lord knows that kid can’t get enough of things that go!

The Gifted Grasshopper also offers party favor bags and a Griffen’s Pick book selection that come highly recommended from the Gifted Grasshopper team. The sweetest idea that this site offers, however, is the Baby Shower Registry. The $24.99 registry fee includes: one Gifted Grasshopper canvas tote bag, one book, two pairs of grasshopper glasses, a Griffehttp://www.giftedgrasshopperchildrensbooks.com/n the Grasshopper reading buddy and shipping of the completed baby registry book collection to the shower location. Cards are even sent to the shower hostess to include in the invitation that explain the registry and encourages the guests to donate a book to the baby’s first library! What an amazing and lovely shower gift! Far more useful than, say, that 13th baby blanket you could end up opening!

I wish I would have known about these book sets when I was registering for my shower. We make a point to read every night before bed and I am running out of books. One of our favorites is Love You Forever by Robert Munsch

I just found your blog when I was looking into reviews for Milk Bank. I think the must have book for a child’s library is On the Night You were Born by Nancy Tillman.

Carrie June 9, 2009 at 9:46 am

The must have book for me would be The House at Pooh Corner
