Today’s challenge of saying the word “no” the the kids as infrequently as possible was, at best, trying. Bubba lives for the word “no” as it gives him the well defined boundaries he so badly needs. On the other hand though, I did get to have some fun with it. Because of my resolve to be as open as possible to his requests, we went out to lunch, we grabbed coffee (hot chocolate), we took the long way home from his doctor’s appointment and talked (I live for our talks, he’s amazing), and we had major dance party USA in the car as he wanted to listen to the Black Eyed Peas non-stop. Did it get annoying? Sure. But it’s the best feeling in the world to see him loosen up for a bit and get out of his own head to move around and sing along.
The twins didn’t really count on this one. They’re 19 months old and need to hear no. Not only that, but they aren’t quite at the point of requesting anything of me just yet.
Tomorrow’s challenge is to avoid arguing with your spouse or significant other in front of your children no matter what.
I’ve got a few thoughts to go along with this challenge. I’m anxious to see if anyone else feels the same way that I do.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings!

I’m think Black Eyed Peas trigger some sort of crack addict response in children.
